the Scottie dug.........just how much work one little puppy can be.....we forgot about the potty training, the crying at night when they feel alone.....the little things that they pick up and put in their tiny mouths..........
We forgot how much time that they need to have our company....when they are learning all about the new world they are in.........
We forgot that they are not little versions of bigger dogs, but in fact, are babies, that can have a major tantrum.... and feel frightened at times...........
Babies that need oh so much time, and patience.......the loving part is very easy...the training part can make you feel helpless and hopeless....
How an older dog will now need ten times the amount of reassurance that he's still the top dog...
When you add a little baby dog to a home with an elderly human Mom, it can become a lot to juggle.....especially when you begin to see the human Mom becoming more and more frail.....
So please forgive the absence....we know that you all want to see our little one everyday, while she learns and grows and discovers new things.... ......and how we help the other critters adjust to their new sibling!

Nancy, you have my full support with anything. I love to see the pictures of Becky but totally understand the moment you are in right now.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of her wrapped in the towel is a classic - one of the cutest I have ever seen!!
If you need me, give a call and I'll help where I can.

Good luck, it really is a big adjustment! Seeing Becky wrapped in the towel looking adorable - it's those moments you know it's worth it :)
ReplyDeletei always say a new puppy is much more work than
ReplyDeletea new baby. the baby, at least stays where you put
him. the puppy is everywhere at once.
the puppy diet is great for the figure though. i usually
lose 5 pounds the first week. :)
sounds like tough week. next week will surely be better.
blessings,
lea
what a cute baby

Hi Nancy, I have only had one little puppy and that was Bruce. He can at 6 weeks old. I did nothing but care for him, for about 3 months!!
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning I sleep with my hand on his back b/c he was so lonesome for his litter nates.. It was very good b/c I never had a mess to clean up in the house. As soon as he moved I was up ready to take him out....
He learned so fast, if you give them all your time for a short time you have the most wonderful dog you have ever had!!!
Good luck!!!! It just takes your time!!!
XXOO, Fern
We so get it!! Take your time and enjoy the little things!
ReplyDeletePuppies are so much work 24 hours a day. Make sure you take time to enjoy her. They don't stay puppies for long.
ReplyDeleteI bet what you didn't forget was how totally wonderful a new puppy is, despite all the extra work. Aah, puppy breath!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks fur sharing those great pikhs and updates -
ReplyDeleteWe'll be thinking of woo!

I was seriously considering a new pooch..Lucy Lu needs a buddy and I would love a new critter! When Jim mentioned getting a puppy..instead of an older dog...I kinda cringed...uhmmmmm...guess who will be doing puppy duty..yup meeeeeee. Am thinking maybe another bunny would be good..and a puppy later...maybe. Hang in there hon....she will grow fast and settle in!! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Becky

I know exactly what you mean. A baby is a baby, no matter the species. And we all know how much energy is required to care for a baby!

Now I hope you know we appreciate what you can share but understand when you can't. That little Becky sure is a sweetie pie! At least they grow up faster than people? That's one bright spot. (Besides the brightness that is Miss Becky.)
ReplyDeleteSo mush work and so much love
ReplyDeleteWell good grief! If you'd let Becky sleep with you at night, that would settle a lot of that angst for her!
ReplyDeleteHeck, here at Thistle Cove Farm, it's a three dog night Every Night and we love it!
