We have tried everything here, the compact air can, blowdryer, pleading with the PC keyboard.....nothing yet.....holding out hope before we replace the keyboard totally with another one.....oh dear.........

You can try totally disconnecting the keyboard and taking it in the shower with you, and then let it totally dry out...it will be at least 24 hours. but this is not guaranteed.
