Awwwww Ma! I wanna go too..PULEEEEZE????

"No my darling...after careful consideration, weighing the odds, I had to say no...for my mental health, your safety, and about a dozen other reasons you will be home with Uncle Richard, Gramma, and Pa......."

"But why ma??????"

"Well Becky for one thing it's 105 degrees....and in the truck it's not much better even with AC.....and it will be a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng drive with lonnnnnnnnnnnnng lines..."

"Wanna bet?"

And that was how our little chat went.........I slipped out the front door into the oven (as opposed to jumping out of the frying pan into the fire........I think...too hot to tell really ;o(

The Beckarooooooo and I will not be taking it on the road together....I think that my little one will be fine....and I will be exploring where to go, what to do when I get there..........

Without the Bluebonnet girl, who will be meeting with a groomer during the week............and then it will be time to get ready for that little procedure. You can tell Becky does not approve....and the blurry image.....the humidity on the camera lense once I stepped out the back door onto the porch!

"Hey Pa.......Ma called while you were taking me for a W-A-L-K to tell you that if you call her on the ferry, she'll be up in the crow's nest...wonder what's there?"

FIVE ( month ) FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Can it be true.................my little angel is 5 months old today?
Becky can ( when SHE wants to ) respond to FIVE commands...coincidence?

1) Sit

2) Stay

3) Stand up

4) Lay down

5) Roll over

Now I do have to tell you that Becky gets cut a lotta slack..... when in public, being incredibly adorable.

However, when home, we don't let her get away with a whole lot. Anyone with a Scottie knows why you have to keep on them. That little girl will run circles around you..figuratively and literally.....and there are some days when it feels like we are running a military camp!

Some days feel like a blur.........for me and her!

Lord knows that Bootsie can attest to that.....days when you want to hide in bed from her!!!

You can almost hear what that poor cat's saying to herself:"What the heck did they bring that thing into our home for anyway....everyone knows that cats rule.......and dogs drool!" I do have to say that they are all beginning to learn to accept her in their own way ( and vice verse.....Becky just runs circles around them ;o)

Now we have to get our act together since Becky and I are going on a little trip in a couple of weeks.....yup...a real time for bonding...just for me and my gal....We'll give you a little hint............the place we are going to begins with C.....and ends with E......more on that in the coming week ;o)

Thankful Thursday

What are we thankful for tonight?
Ice Cream after social dancing at the Belmar Pavilion ( no Becky did not come along tonight..no doggies allowed on the dance floor :o(
I watch Mom watching them, and it really is heart warming. They have volunteers(college age students )who are very good at coaxing the less out going people onto the floor....and man can some of them cut the rug! They are wonderful kids who give their time to bring a little sunshine into peoples lives who are in their sunset years!
Tonight Mom & I had a lonnnnnnnng talk about what I needed her to do there.....which involved TALKING TO PEOPLE without me there.......I took a breath, got her settled, and hit the boardwalk in an attempt to begin jogging again. I think that perhaps with a little more coaxing on my part, it may work.
Now let me tell you about the ice cream at Beach PlumsA hop, skip and a jump away from Belmar, Heaven on Earth can be found. There are many places that people rave about when it comes to ice cream eateries.

We love Beach Plums..no, we ADORE it...quirky, quaint, laid back and man oh MAN do they have what we thinks the best! I am an egg cream lover....gimme a tall cold chocolate egg cream after a long walk ( heck gimme it period!) However, if I want a scoop of homemade ice cream, I know that I need to get their raspberry...or mango....or strawberry....and flavor will do at Beach Plums!Every time we go I find another flavor that I have to try.

Back to being thankful.....I have not written much about Becky lately. I need to tell you all that despite all the work, she continues to bring me more and more joy everyday. Yes, there are puppy problems....yes a battle of wills can make you want to throw in the towel ( which Becky would no doubt love ;), and let her have her way..but in time, she will learn boundaries...maybe.........or maybe we'll be hitting Wally World in search of a new chaise lounge tomorrow ;o)

A Place For Mom

Comfort Care.......Senior Connections...A Place For Mom...names that meant nothing to me until a few weeks ago.
How many of you think that you can do everything for everyone all the time and not burn out. I don't mean burn out as in,"gee I need a day to myself" or "man am I gonna crash big time tonight."

I mean the kind of burnout that leaves you feeling as though you will never be able to get out of bed and not feel whole again......the kind of tired that makes you feel helpless, hopeless.....angry, confused........

This is how I have been feeling for quite some time now.

Caregiving is more than a full time job.

It is a 24 hour, 7 days a week job. A job without pay, benefits, or time off for good behavior. There are no vacations. It goes on 365 days a year. And unlike raising a child, you do not see progress, when the person you are caring for has passed the age of ninety( I have had many people with good intentions, make that comparison.) I have for three years this month, taken on this challenge. Today I made a decision that will change the way I approach things.....and that is where A Place For Mom comes in.

The wonderful people there are helping me put a program in place for Mom. It will be good for her, good for me, good for everyone in our home...including the furry and feathered children. We needed to do this quite awhile ago, but then again, you think you can handle it all.......

The lesson learned.....listen to your body....don't wait until life becomes unmanageable to the point of no return. All that being said, we will do our best to keep blogging away about animal antics, gardening highs and lows, and looking at life through the camera lense ;o)
