My Ma Is Older Than Dirt Today!

"At least that's what she's been saying all week...heck I like dirt......

 

"I like it so much that I can't quit digging in it. I asked Gussy if it was her gotcha day. He told me that it was different for humans and that they make a big stink over it."

 

"Well gee whiz, I can cause a big stink in the house if I chew up a shoe or chase one of the cats....and I can make a REALLY big stink in here if I don't get to my "designated area" out in the yard in time!"
Heck, I can make a big stink over just about anything..and boy do I get into trouble if I don't get my way!"

 

"Anyway, back to Ma.....today I'm taking her with Pa to go out to eat. Ma got me a new dress for the occasion..... a red and white gingham ( what ever that is! ) I heard her say something about getting a bottle of the bubbly.... I wonder if it mean that she's gonna go get groomed? Pa said something about presents and flowers...gee I wonder if any of it will come my way?

I LOVE to dig up the ones out in the yard.....

 

but gee I'm only tryin' to help out! At first Ma got really mad when she saw what I did....but you know...."

"....it finally dawned on her....

 

I was watching EVERYTHING that she did and trying to mimic her( at least that's what I heard her say!) When Ma realized that, she got crazy excited....started talkin' about a light bulb goin' on in my little head and her big head at the same time...start callin' and emailin' everyone today..telling them I was the best lil' gift she ever got for any birthday!"

"Whew........all that 'cause I learned where to do my business and when to do it.....and all that yakkin' about mimicking her.........zheezh.....I thought that crazy bird was the only one doin' any mimicking around here! Guess I finally found my place in the critter totem pole here by the beach!"
"Well.....that's about all I have to talk about for now. I gotta help everyone get prepared for our little celebration here. I expect that she'll have a lot to talk about after HER gotcha day.....if she doesn't have too much of that bubble or bubbly or whatever that stuff is...bye for now.....

It's Almost That Time Again

Happy Spring On Blue Monday!

Can you feel it in the air?

I thought that it would NEVER return!

How long have we been waiting for it?

Can you EVER remember waiting with SUCH anticipation?

Was it worth the wait?

It certainly was!

I wanted to share my little cup and saucer set with you all for my first Blue Monday contribution.

I found this at a really neat thrift shop...almost thirty years ago, when we were on Martha's Vineyard ( yep..you can find a thrift shop there ;o...and yes you CAN stay there on a budget ) I can remember where I found it and when I found it and how happy it made me feel! We had already purchased our first home and were naturally going with a nautical theme decor...PERFECT FIND!
Made in England, it was part of a collection of Port of Calls..best $2.00 that I have ever spent on a souvenir!


Our contribution will be a set of 4 blue themed flower note cards with envelopes.
They will feature the pretty myrtle blossom, in the final picture of today's post!
Working on Mr. Linky and the blue bugzzzzz buzzing on the pc ;o)

What Sweet & Tangy Finds Today!

It's the first radish of the season ~This calls for a recipe:

Spring Radish Tea Sandwiches
Thinly sliced radishes
16 slices best-quality white bread*
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

* Choose the best-quality white or wheat bread as possible. Never serve end slices. Freezing the bread before cutting and then spreading makes for easier handling.

Spread one side of each piece of bread lightly with butter.

Top the buttered side of the eight (8) slices of bread with the sliced radishes and top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side down.

Carefully cut the crusts from each sandwich with a long, sharp knife. Cut the sandwiches in half diagonally and then cut in half again.

Yields 8 whole sandwiches or 16 halves or 32 fourths.

Our resident robin is checking it out ~ hope it knows how pinchy that veggie is!

Our neighbor's kitty is taking time to smell the roses....err,make that azaleas ;o)

First we find momma and baby titmouse in the yard........

Then we see the first bearded iris in bloom.....

Baby titmouse decides to investigate on its own....all in all, a wonderful day filled with all of God's gifts!

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring....

Well they say that April showers bring May flowers ~ indeed they do...they also bring back our little migrating mallards. We have a sweet pair that comes back every year, right before Mother's Day. I thought I saw them do a fly over today....must be checking out the garden to see what we have planted for them this year!
